The paintings in this collection were inspired by my recent move to Flagstaff, Arizona, one of the world’s first International Dark Sky Places. I made geometric drawings from observation at Buffalo Park, where I drew constellations of dead sunflower blossoms in the fields in late October. The background hues come from tan grasses and evergreen pines, and the geometric forms are filled with the saturated pinks, oranges, and yellows visible in the sky at dusk just before the black sky and white moon reveal themselves.
