These paintings were inspired by daily walks along a trail in central Wisconsin that passes between expansive crops of potatoes and corn. I set up the laser eye-tracking viewfinder I designed and made drawings of the path of my eyes from fixation point to fixation point as I looked at clouds in the evening sky above the fields, colored by the hues of the sunset. The dominant hues of the background nod to vistas of freshly plowed sandy soil that can appear caramel, chocolate, or gray in color depending upon moisture and lighting conditions. The saturated greens come from new growth corn and potato plants made impossibly vibrant in the golden hour.
